Hi, i need to install another copy of XP on my pc that
already has winXP-Pro so that one is like test the other
is production. is it possible ? any written procedure or
guidelines will be appreciated ?.

thanks in advance.

Hi

You can install another copy of XP onto a different partition, but not onto the same partition. You will need to purchase a 2nd copy of XP to do this.

Will, are you quite sure that a 2'nd copy of XP needs to be purchased in his
case?

In reading the EULA (Systemroot\System32\eula.txt), it would seem to
indicate that a 'clone' on the same computer would meet the 'single user,
single copy' criteria ... this would, it seems to me, be the same copy, same
user, and therefore ok (but perhaps I'm reading what I want into it). If
the OP uses a boot manager to boot to the clone (while hiding the partition
containing the original XP), no activation is triggered and would allow him
to test the cloned partition to his hearts content.

Just curious if there's an official reading on the above scenario.

Hi Fred

I've always thought that the following meant a different copy of XP on each hard drive/partition, but I may have read too much into it:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional

END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT

"Installation and use. You may install, use, access,
display and run one copy of the Product on a single
computer, such as a workstation, terminal or other device
("Workstation Computer")."

If you install a XP onto a 2nd partition on your system from the same CD, you will have to activate the 2nd copy.
