Funny isn't it that a Security product is itself such a pain to get
rid of. Other vendors should start adding Symantec remnant
removal as part of their protection schema.

This process assumes you are removing "ALL" Norton branded
products from your PC. If you have disk/volume imaging capability
take a XP image before starting the removal process.

1.) Uninstall the base product (Reboot)
2.) Uninstall LiveUpdate
3.) Uninstall LiveReg
4.) Full System Search for string "Symantec"
1.) Should find at least 2 folders - delete all
5.) Services will be "Orphaned" in the Registry.
1.) Download Symantec's removal tool - name changes too
often to tell you what it's called this week.
6.) Device Manager - Click View, tic/check "Show Hidden Devices"
7.) Expand the Non-Plug and Play Drivers category. The Symantec
leftovers will be entries such as SymTdi - BE VERY CAREFUL
to only uninstall Symantec entries. You can verify the source
vendor by Double-Clicking an entry, Driver (TAB), Driver Details
(Box). If the Provider entry shows "Symantec Corporation" uninstall
the driver.
8.) You'll have GUID entries in the Registry left over, but mostly won't
affect the system or performance.

Go to the symantec site and download their removal tool.
It's that easy.

Unlike you and I, others aren't hesitating giving advice. Especially the
use of the current removal tool from Symantec. They're gambling on the
probability the NAV version is new enough for the tool. What's at risk if
run and its not is unknown to me. I won't risk it.

I wasn't really hesitating, I have "All" of the Removal tools available on my site.
At the moment they're on 3 separate pages and if the OP would have posted back which
app/ver was the issue, I would have provided one link instead of three to keep away
from any confusion. By the time I rolled back around others had already provided
information so I spit the hook and continued on my way.

The (2) they have out now, that's right, I said (2), remove any/all/every
Symantec/Norton application distributed since 2003, and I really mean "any/all"
application that is installed. Their idiotic boneheaded programmers can't even
figure out a simple uninstall that will only remove a single application instead of
the entire line and they haven't even learned how to get that correct, it's been that
way since 2003, SHEEESH!!
