Using Frontpage 2002 - I've published the early stages of my website at
http://www.violinmarketplace.com

The problem - in the upper left hand corner, it always displays 'index.htm'.
How can I get rid of that display ? It just looks silly.

Thanks - Ed

Page Properties and change the title.

It looks like this is from a top shared border. Part of a link bar that is
only displaying one link, which is the current page, so it isn't
hyperlinked? Just a guess. Try removing the top border from that page and
see if it goes away.

Thanks for trying - but
I have no shared borders. Frontpage is inserting this code (which does not appear in my personal html)
What option is telling Frontpage to do this ??

Why not just create a new home page that is correct and be done ?

Take a look at
http://www.violinmarketplace.com/_derived/index.html_cmp_edge010_bnr.gif

What you are seeing is your Page Banner w/ the default text (filename) in your Navigation View
View Navigation - right click each page to Rename them to what you want it to say

Thanks to all for your replies, even though NOTHING has worked yet.
1) I don't have any 'shared borders'
2) The 'navigation' page won't let me rename the index.htm to (blank)
3) Something in Frontpage is turning on a top banner, and I don't want a top banner.
4) Does anyone (especially Frontpage Support) know how to turn this damned 'feature' OFF ?
5) I was considering upgrading to 2003, but there's not a chance - if a simple problem like this can't be solved.
6) This is not an involved question about complex form processing. I just wnat to turn off the damned banner. Please ?

Someone suggested that I could use my own FTP to upload a corrected version. Probably a good suggestion for going around the problem, but it's a little like taking your Cadillac to a witch doctor because the dealer can't figure out how to fix the windshield wipers.

OK here is a simple way out:
go back to navigation view, right click the offending page and either select
the button on the tool bar to (leave out of navigation) or just hit the
delete button (make sure you answer correctly on the dialog box that you
just want to remove it from the navigation not delete the actual page. you
could also go to the offending page in "normal" view and select the page
banner and delete it.
you'll then have to publish your changes to the server to see it on the web.

1) You Do have Shared Borders set and can see them on your pages and in Html View as
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tlb, default">
That means Top, Left, Bottom (tlb)
To remove them use Format Shared Borders and unselect the ones you don't want as default for all pages (in your case probably all of
them for all pages)
Since you created the site from a template it added them (also look at the bottom of all your pages)

2) You can not set/rename nav view text to blank, but you can remove the nav view options from your shared borders or pages (remove
Page Banners or Navigation by deleting)

3) See 1
4) See 1

5) Agree you shouldn't upgrade or try anything new until you have at least gotten the basics of a product down - highly recommend
you try the F1 Key and download/run the FP Tutorial from
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2002/FPT2002.aspx

Forgive me for being little testy in my last post. I was getting frustrated.

PROBLEM solved. (There were no shared border turned on, but apparently because I was using a background gif from the themes folder, Frontpage made some assumptions.) I moved the gif into my images folder, and turned off all themes.

The top and bottom banners are gone, and I'm a happy camper (for the moment).

Here's comething you folks don't hear often enough - "Thank You !"

Still recommend the F2 key & tutorial
- You did have shared borders turned on , or I would not have seen them and the code I posted from your site and themes do not turn
them on

PS
Typo: F2 should have been F1 key
