When opening the favorites list (via "Favorites" in the
menu bar) I allways get short list of approx 8 items only.
Only after moving the mouse on the down-arrow on the
bottom of the list will expand the favorites list (approx
20 directories + 20 items).

Does anyone know how to set up IE, so that I get the full
list instantly.

I don't know how IE works in Windows 2000, but my version 6.0 in Windows XP
just opens each folder like a conventional Windows menu item. The contents
appear at the right of each folder as I mouse down the list of folders in my
Favorites menu. Have you tried the Microsoft Explorer website for info?

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and uncheck 'Enable Personalized
Favorites Menu'.

IE-Tools-Internet Options-Advanced
The option is "Enable Personalized Favorites Menu"
