How to force the update of a field ?

Hi,
How can I force the automatic update of a field at "Open" or "Save"
time ?

My problem is, for example, with the "LastSavedBy" field.
As we are several person working on the same shared document,
if the last person modifying the document does not "update" the field
after "save" then the document will not be correct !

Yes, me too. I would like to know how to force Word to update the
entire document wevery time at open and/or save time. I have several
documents with extensive Tables of Contents. If I add new headings, I
have to manually update the TOC or it NEVER gets updated.

These documents are only viewed on the screen -- rarely if ever
printed.
