HELP !

Having some crazy AD problems, first manifested by one of
the member servers reporting that global catalog service
was unavailable, later many windows 9.x users suddenly
lost connection to a domain member server, when trying to
reconnect getting password prompt for the \\server\ipc$
share. Tried rebooting server, checking user accounts,
passwords etc...

Finally found that the server was having problems reading
the domain users list, so tried to unjoin / rejoin domain.
Upon doing that the server could not join the domain,

domain server does not exist or could not be contacted.

checked some TIDs and found that the DNS entries (SRV)
were missing. The documents talk about importing the
netlogon.dns file into DNS, but can find no way to import
(I see export but not import)

What do I do ?

Stop and start the netlogon service on the DC in question. That will reregister the records. Or wait an hour, they will
automatically reregister every hour unless you have hacked the registry to change the refresh period.

Install win2k support tools
from a command prompt
netdiag /fix
