Hello Everyone,

I want to know how many RPM disk is present in my computer. Its pretty old
and I don't have the disk manual with me now.

Can any utility like msinfo32 etc can provide me this information?

regards,
Abhishek.

Rotational speed isn't a value returned by MSinfo32 - but using it
Expand Components, Storage, Disks - you'll locate the Model &
Manufacturer codes there. Even older drives still have Technical
Specification sheets at the vendor's website. If it's older, then it's
a safe bet it is a <7200-RPM model.

Or pop the lid and read the disk label.

Yes, the mfr of the hard drive may have utility for IDing the hard drive
model. Armed with that info, you can go to the HD mfrs website to make that
determination.

Direct determination of rpm, I've never seen with software.

Everest will show it.

Choose Storage/Windows Storage
Click on the Drive and it will show you all sorts of information one
of which being the rotational speed.

Using last available Everest Home Edition before their website stopped
giving out this version, version 2.00.333. I have 4 ide hard drives, and 3
scsi hard drives. Of these, 2 of 3 scsi drives, the rotational speed and
various aspects are provided. The remainder, very little information.

I stand corrected, sort of, but not really.

I think it depends on the drive itself and what it will report to the
program. I have 2 Seagates, a Maxtor, and a WD in my system. And
sure enough the Seagates and Maxtor show that speed. The WD does not.
So I guess it would depend on what brand the drive is for Everest to
show the info.
