How to find out if my Disc of Windows XP is legal//

I bought a Windows XP & SP! Home Edition OEM and it will not install on a new
hard drive without saying that it may not be legal. Is there somewhere I can
go in Windows to find out. I have the Product Key an the COLA stickers. I am
upgrading from Windows 98SE to XP an wanted to do this on a fresh new
harddrive.If this is an illegal copy what can I do?? Thanks all an have a

Where did you buy if from? Has it been installed before?
