How can I move my data from Office 2003 to Office XP? They seem to be in
different formats (.pst versus .???).
I've been unsucessful trying to use another computer with Office XP with
the Office 2003 data..

Thank you,

They *are* different formats. In Outlook 2003, you have to create a new .pst
file in the old format. After the new .pst file is created, copy all of the
info you want from the "old" Outlook 2003 .pst file to the newly created
(but old format) .pst file. Then, you can open that .pst file in Outlook
2002 (XP).

Thank you for your reply.
Would you please also tell me the steps decribing how to make a pst file
from the msg 2003 outlook files? I can't seem to figure it out. (For
example, if I change a few of the contacts from .msg to .pst in the file
manager, previous outlook files seem to disappear. Fortunately I made a cd
backup of the outlook files before trying anything).
Thanks again,

In Outlook 2003, click on the File menu > New > Outlook Data File. Choose
Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File as the type of .pst file to create.
After the new .pst file is created, copy any data (messages, contacts, etc.)
that you want to copy from the original Outlook 2003 .pst file into your
newly created (old style) .pst file. After copying this .pst file onto the
hard drive of your older version of Outlook, make sure that the "Read Only"
attribute is removed from the .pst file and just use Outlook's File > Open
menu to open it. All of your data should now be there. Be careful to rename
your newly created .pst file when you create it, so as not to overwrite any
..pst file with the same name.
