How to enable recently used file list. Mine is greyed out.

When I go to Tools, options and click on the general tab to select recently
used file list mine is greyed out and I can not select it. What do I do now.
I am running office 2003. Thanks

If you use a Document Management system it's possible that the IT
Administrator has disabled this item. If not them check that Word is closed
(winword.exe) is not running. Consider re-installin Office.
