my son was using the cookies happily until he installed
the latest version of Media Player. After that, he lost
all his cookies. What's worse is that the cookies he
created during the session will be lost once he logs
off. I tried the Security setting for him but it didn't
work.

I tried to use the CUSTOM function but I just found out
that the function (and unrelatedly, the home page URL as
well) was dimmed and therefore cannot be accessed. I
tried re-installing the IE for him but smae things happen!

Can somebody help? Many thanks.

Just go to tools in IE and enable cookies. Change
setting to accept cookies!

There is no such thing as Enable Cookies in IE6 (I don't
think). I know that you'll have to go in through
Tools/Internet Options/Privacy to accept the cookies but
even after I changed the option to the lowest level
(Accpet All Cookies), it will not retain the cookies the
next time my son logs on.

Hello Patrick,
Verify whether or not your son has an actual account or is logging on with
the guest account.

Thanks for your reply Curtis. My son has a regular
account. In fact, my account is the administrator and
the cookies were not saved in my account either. I made
the change in my IE.

I think I may be able to change the "options" if the
dimmed "custom" is taken off but I don't know how to do
that. I believe it was one of those web sites that we
visited "dimmed" it (and the home URL) for us so that we
are forced to go to their web sites. I use the reset all
option in IE to reset my home page after that. And also,
even when I used this RESET ALL, the cookies still were
not saved!

Again, thanks for your tips and advice.

Patrick
