I want to set up a custom out of office reply that only replies to folks
within our organization (to avoid sending replies to mailing lists I'm on).

I can't see a way to set that up in the Out Of Office assitant, so I tried
making my own rule:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
where my name is in the To box
and sender is in [our global org address book] Address Book
and on this machine only
reply using [a template I made with my reply message]

But this does not work. Any tips/pointers/help?

Why do you say it is not working? Are there people in the organization that
aren't receiving the OOO Reply? Are there people outside the organization
that are receiving the OOO Reply? Is no one receiving anything? Is the
rule turned on?

Right.

that are receiving the OOO Reply?
Nope.

Is no one receiving anything?
Right.

Is the
rule turned on?

Yep.

If you are using Exchange, then the default setting for Out of Office is
to send only to those in the address book anyway and not to outside
addresses. Just get the Admin to change it back!
