Could someone please tell me exactly how to get into the bios to disable wake
on lan setting? I am still having problem of computer rebooting with the
ethernet cable for dsl plugged in to computer at every shutdown. when I pull
out the plug it shuts down fine. I have been reading everywhere for other
solutions. Found one other about disabling selective suspend, but not sure if
this is a solution either. I show no viruses, have sp2 and check for spyware,
this started the day I got dsl. Thank you for your help

You probabbly have press the del on the num pad to acess the bios (it works
for me). Then you have scearch around in your bios settings to find then you
can disable it. But you have to remember some bios setups are different to
acess but this should work or check the manual that came with the pc.

May not be wake on LAN. There is another feature that can be set to turn the
PC back on after a power outage. I have that feature in my BIOS and with the
software that came with my UPS. I've read in other support groups that on
occasion this feature will develop a bug and think that turning the PC off is
a "power loss", then turn it back on immediatly because it thinks it is
supposed to.

I had something similar happen to me once. My PC was comming on in the
middle of the night, I had no idea why. I forgot I had set it up in the BIOS
to power on when I pressed the space bar on the keyboard, and my cat had been
walking on it, stepped on the space bar, and turned the power on.

Best thing to do is go to google, type in your motherboard makers name and
visit their site. You can download a copy of the instruction manual for your
motherboard. That will have all the details on how to access the BIOS,
disable Wake on LAN, and anything else you might want to play around with
while you're there.
