How to DISABLE DOUBLECLICK in XP?

Anyone know how to do this? I need to disable it temporarily while
using Itunes so I don't "accidentally" click off a playing song. TIA
for any help!
 
I want to DISABLE the double-click. I didn't say I wanted to turn it
into a single-click to select. That would be worse. To be more clear, I
want to be able to temporarily turn off the select function altogether.
This way I can only highlight songs or right-click on them to move them
around in the shuffle. When the song is "selected" it plays. I want to
be able to disable that. Disabling double-click would accomplish this
goal. Changing double-click to "single-click to select" won't. Thanks
for the help anyway.

Why not set the delay to the fastest setting (all the way left), thus
almost stopping double clicking from taking place?

Make up my mind. I you want to disable double click and you do not want single click then unplug your mouse.
