I 'm on XP Pro/SP2. I have versions 1, 2 and 3 of dotNET.

I recently applied a dotNET Service Pack and some upgrades.

Now my PC runs with slight delays and lags. The PC is a basic one
with limited power.

Can I disable dotNET without uninstalling it?

Look eleswhere! .Net is not normally active and only is used when
other application call for common Net routines.

Are you possibly talking about internet using a browser? Do you use
Firefox? If so, MS took the liberty of installing a .NET add-on in FF.
I disable it on any machine I touch, and even MS disabled it recently
because of security issues.

Click Tools, Add-ons and click on the .NET Assistant and click Disable.
That will help the speed a little.

And another Firefox module now appears to disable this .Net FF
extension automatically.

Not here. I know of nothing in FF that disabled it, only MS.

I know of no "modules" in FF doing this. MS did though.
