How to Disable "Clickable" Touchpad

Have looked under "Mouse" and can't figure out how to
do this. It seemed to start by itself. I prefer just a normal
left-button click function.

Not sure what you are asking. Do you wish to disable the touchpad entirely
or do you want to just disable clicking on the pad?

You do this in the mouse section of control panel. If the option is missing
you may not have the hardware specific drivers loaded for the touchpad.
 
I had looked many times, but missed "settings" under Synaptics Touch
Pad.
