How to determine document creator?

I monitor a public calendar that is used for people in my organization to
reserve audio/visual equipment. Some users fail to type their name/contact
information in the document. Is there a way I can get into the document
properties to find out the name of the person who created the document? Doc
properties shows me the date/time of creation, but not the creator/owner.

Which type of document are you referring too? Document properties are set by
the file format of the document and can be read by the application you use
to open them with. Outlook is outside all of this.

It's a calendar appointment document. The calendar is a standard outlook
calendar shared by all in our organization. We haven't modified any of the
documents. I just open the calendar to view current appointments. Author
access is the default. If the calendar owner were to grant me higher access,
would I have the ability to see who created documents?

Aha, confusion; in general you refer to meetings and appointments as
Calendar Items and not documents. Documents are usually attachments in terms
of Outlook ;-)

Change your Calendar view to a list view like By Category and add the From
field as a column. This will reveal the creator of the item.
