How to delete user account?

A friend just built me an XP box, and he created a user account which XP
stupidly defaulted as an admin account.
I want to delete this useless admin account, but as the real
administrator, the roll over -says- it can be deleted, but no delete option
is available.
How to do this?

You shouldn't delete the original Administrator account. This built in
account will be removed from the Welcome screen as soon as you add another
account to the setup. Since it will remain in a very pristine state, it is
useful to keep it on hand for troubleshooting purposes.

Understood; but that was not the issue.
I want to delete the recently created admin account, but the "original"
does not give that option, although it is claimed available on the Alt text
roll-over.

Laurie, not sure I'm following the screnario 100% but try this: create a
second "everyday" administrator account for yourself. Log on to it. Then
delete the unwanted account.

The issue is that the REAL admin account is unable to delete the
spurious admin account, even though that option is listed in the roll-over
alt text.
