How to delete all computer data

i want to delete all computer data and programs. I replaced my hard drive
and loaded windows xpsp2. when i re downloaded aol, parts of the install
where still coming from my computer. Example : c:\progra1~..... HOw do i
get rid of all previous data and programs ....Is it from the boot menu? From
the CD Drive??

If you **replaced** your only hard drive - then having data in place from
your old install is impossible - as it is not even in existence on that
machine *if* you did as you said.
 
Use the utilities that came with your hard drive - also downloadabel from the
manufacturer's website - to write 0's on the hard drive you want to completly
erase; it seems weird, indeed, but even formatting does not completly "erase"
everything on disk.

Hello,

It is possible to completely erase the whole drive by using KillDisk
utility. It can overwrite the whole HDD so that all data is erased and
can not be restored. Head on to their site www.killdisk.com for more
info and download. KillDisk is launched from a bootable floppy so you
don't need to have any working system present on your drive.
