I have recently downloaded a multi-lingual package from Microsoft for
automatic translation. Now every time I access any new or old document a
warning is shown that I have an Addin that is not valid for Office. I have
tried to find this Addin and delete but have not been succesful. If I change
to Administrator mode, the problem is not there. Has anybody any ideas of
how to delete it. I have un-installed Office XP and re-installed, but the
problem still remains! My operating system is Windows 2000.

Thanks, I looked and tried but no success. I have nothing in Start File.
The actual warning I get when accessing any document, old or new is :
C:\Documents and Settings\Colin\Applications Data\Microsoft\AddIns\ is not a
valid Office add-in.

Where Colin is the user.

Something is pointing to that folder without the required filename.

Thanks Suzanne. I downloaded microsoft program 'Remove Hidden Data Tool
Self-Extracting Installer' which has got rid of one message but it still pops
up again, only once instead of twice! It seems I have 'half' deleted the
problem but still cannot trace the source to remove the warning entirely.

Hi Suzanne & Garfield-n-odie
Success! I solved it! I opened word document, selected 'help', selected
'detect and repair' selected 'discard my settings and restore default
settings'. At last the warnings have all gone. Many thanks to you both for
your help. You pointed me in the direction of the cure.
