Can someone tell me why My Pictures, My Music, and My Video and possibly
other special folders don't have the 'Customize' tab in the folder's
properties window? Is this something that is locked within the 'My Documents'
folder? Thanks, M

The articles did not provide me an answer as to why My Pictures Folder, My
Music Folder and My Video Folders don't have a 'customize' tab under their
properties. Please explain. Thanks, M

Getting closer, but this article relates to an operating system older than XP
I believe as I couldn't find those particular registries. Any info for XP?

That article applies to Windows XP. BUT the Customize tab will not be
available for special folders such as Windows, Program Files, My Documents,
My Pictures, My Music. This is by design.

The Customize tab is not available for special folders where Windows has
already set their default appearances. But, you may be able to customize the
folder picture for the Thumbnails view of some special folders by using the
steps in the Manually create a folder picture section of this article.

Because they are already customised. You can customise individual
folders within them (and in My Pics select special views like Filmstrip)
