How to create a Mouse Over/Hi-lighted word.

I want to use a Mouse Over within a document. I want the word to be
hi-lighted (like a hyperlink) and when it is moused over, a window to open up
with information about the word inside. I am using Word 2000.

You can create a hyperlink from it in order to get the ScreenTip. If you
bookmark the word itself and hyperlink to that bookmark, the link won't go
anywhere. You can either retain the hyperlink formatting or remove it.

Alternatively, you can use a Comment, which does cause the word to be
highlighted and to display a ScreenTip on mouseover, but this is implemented
differently in later Word versions (in Word 2002 and 2003 the word will be
marked by very light colored brackets instead of being highlighted), and
sometimes the ScreenTip is balky about displaying.

Thanks Suzanne for the quick response. I will try both styles to see which
one works best.

Suzanne, when I try this in Word 2002, I get a balloon with the
comment, which I cannot eliminate without also eliminating the
brackets around the word, and I do not get a screen tip. How would
one get the screen tip and not the balloon?

You will get a ScreenTip if (a) you have balloons disabled and/or (b) you're
viewing the document in Normal view. But this is why a Comment was not my
first suggestion.
