Hello,
Recently bought a digital camera and have taken pictures
which are now stored on my computer. I would like to
store these pictures on a CD, but I don't know how to do
it. I have a CD-RW on my computer. Please let me know
step by step on how to copy these pictures to a CD. I
would greatly appreciate any help, I a new at this.
Thanks Swtpea2

You can perform the function you desire a couple of ways.

1. You can select the pictures you want and right click on one of the
selected pictures. A menu should pop up. Under the menu is a option called
"Send To". Uder the "Send To" option, you should see your cd-rw drive --
which you should select.

2. Simply select the photos you want and right to "Copy". The navigate to
you cd-rw and right click to select "Paste"

After both of those steps, tiy will probably see a window balloon pop up in
the lower right hand corner of the task bar indicating that your cd-rw has
files waiting to be written to a cd. Click the balloon and this will open
you cd-rw windows. On the left hand side, you should see a link that says,
"Write theses files to CD"

Hope that helps

Best of luck!

Also a read through Alex Nichol's site can prove insightful
http://www.aumha.org/a/xpcd.htm
I have more links and tips on CD Burning here at this page
http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/cdr_info.htm

A number of third party CD Burning program like Nero, Easy Media Creator 7
(formerly Easy CD/DVD Creator) and a host of other apps include software
that facilitates burning pictures to disc to create photo albums that can be
shared with others. Some of these will even play on standard home DVD
players.

Please let us know if you are able to do it, and how. I've never been able
to burn photo files to CD, using Windows built-in procedure (the Write These
Files to CD task, from the CD window), although for some reason unknown to
me, the exact same Windows built-in procedure works fine when burning music
files to CD. I tried NTI CD-Maker Platinum, and never was successful in
burning any photo files to CD. Their support staff said it was a TEAC
problem. I get so disgusted some time.

How many drives and software programs do I have to buy, in order to find
just the right combination that will work ?

You make a data CD, a file is a file.

A music CD is different, if you want to save an MP3 you also
make a data CD.

How is a music CD different? A file is a file as you said. I can only
imagine that the only difference a music CD has is that it is self-starting
and has a command to open/play the files one after another.

Or is there some other thing I do not know about?

A music CD will play in your car's player, if you select to
make a music CD using MP3 files as the source they will be
expanded to the standard wave file format and the track
transitions will be normal.
If you make a data CD, it will play in your computer (might
play in some car's if they handle the format) and it will
have click and pops in the transition between files.

as I said earlier, I can make music CDs with no problem. making music CDs
is (a) not the issue, (b) not the subject of the original post, and (c) not
the entry in the Subject line.

my complaint is that I have tried to burn photo files to CD using 3
different programs, only to be disappointed that none of the 3 programs can
successfully burn photo files to CD (using NTI CD-Maker Platinum 6, Roxio
Easy CD Creator 5 Basic, and Windows XP Pro built-in task named Write These
Files to CD).

It would delight me to find one person visiting this newsgroup who (a) has a
TEAC CD-RW drive, (b) has software that successfully burns photo files to
CD, and (c) would tell me what it is. otherwise, I am forced to roll the
dice again. do I risk more money buying another software program, only to
find out it does not work with TEAC ? or do I risk more money buying
another CD-RW drive, only to find out it does not work with any of these
programs I've wasted my money on ?

I should clarify that I do not consider XP pro one of the programs "I've
wasted my money on". I am pleased with all the features in XP pro that I've
gotten to work, but there are some features I have never gotten to work,
even after buying books, taking classes, multiple searches, calls to support
staffs, and advice from 4 corners of the earth.

Roxio has an update to version 5.3.5 for the Basic edition.
It has updated drivers and fixes previous problem within XP.
If you need help, I suggest that you visit the Roxio site
and download the update. Then follow the instructions to
make a DATA CD project. You select the files you want to
copy. Making a music CD or a data CD should not be a
problem, whether the file extension is .txt, .doc, .bmp. or
..jpg or even .mpg. There is something you are not doing
correctly that is causing the problem.

thanks for your time and for your advice Jim. and thanks for saying it in a
way that does not leave me feeling stupid. I'll give it a try soon, but it

I like your Constitution blurb. according to the Constitution, the

we continually see never-ending attempts to prohibit this very freedom
thousands have died to protect.

I am not really sure what your problem is but with XP you can either right
click a photo or a group of photos and select send to and select CD R Drive
and they are transferred or drag and drop to your CD Rdrive
It works with me

could you provide a few details ?
what brand media have you had success with ? (the support staff for one of
the products told me to start trying various brands of media.)
what do you log in as ? Administrator ? Limited User ?
what brand CD-RW do you use ?
other details would be helpful.
thanks.

Thanks for the compliment. I've been interested in law and
government for about 50 years. I've attended city councils,
state legislatures, watched C-SPAN and read law reviews and
history books, every law passed, for a long time into the
past has had a severability clause, which is saying, we
passed this into law, but if a court over-turns part of the
law the rest stays in effect.
Not just religion, but tax laws, gun laws, even your
building codes are passed and often there is a discussion of
whether the law would be constitutional. It is passed and
signed into law, with the comment that IF it is
unconstitutional, the courts will fix it. As we can see
with McCain-Feingold, the Court is also part of the problem.

Good luck with your CD-RW problem, it really isn't that
difficult.
