Hello,

I just purchased a new hard drive for my computer. I would like to copy all
of my files from my old drive to the new drive. Is there a easy, and safe way
to do it, without messing up everything?

You have to boot the machine with a Bart PE boot CD
(http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/#download) in order to
do this successfully.

The new drive should have come with a utility CD or floppy on which
should be a utility to copy the old drive to the new. This is the case
for retail boxed drives. If it's a white box drive or you didn't ge a
utility it can be downloaded from the drive manufacturer's web site.
Read the instructions on how to do the copy. If this is a bootable
drive, after you do the copy remove the old drive and install the new
drive as Master on the primary channel. Make sure the first boot is
with this new boot drive as the only hard drive in the system. Also
disconnect any zip drives or other peripherals for this first boot.

do you actually want to use the new drive to boot your computer or just
backup your data files on it. if it is the latter just copy/cut them and
paste them in a folder on your new drive wherever you want them to be.
