How to convert Word .tmp file to .doc file

For unknown reasons my word document (ABC.doc) was damaged and cannot be
loaded into Word 2000. I found that the folder still contains .tmp for
this document. I think that there must be a way to convert the .tmp file
to its parental .doc file. Please help me.

Rename it from .tmp to .doc.

Simply rename the file, replacing the .tmp extension with .doc.
