I want to convert the index in an Word document to pdf without converting the
whole document to PDF. Is there anyway I can do that?

* If the index is on separate page(s): tell your pdf printer to only
convert those pages. Say the index is on pages 2-4, you only print
pages 2-4 to pdf.
* Copy the index to another word file and convert that to pdf.

I think there aren't a .pdf converter in my Word2002.
Where can I find it?

There is no PDF utility in Word. You will need third party software such as
Acrobat or one of its cheaper pretenders.

I disagree with the usage of the pejorative words "cheaper" and
"pretenders". Otherwise, Graham is right.

Thanks!

In what way pejorative? I would have thought it a fairly accurate
description?

They are "cheaper" in that they are less expensive (free, in some cases); I
don't think Graham meant to imply by "cheaper" that they are necessarily
inferior. They are certainly "pretenders" in the sense of "pretenders to the
throne," though I suspect Graham meant "imitators" or "clones."
