Hello!

Is there a way to clear or edit the list of words that Excel 2003 uses for
its autocomplete feature? I want to start over again with the words it
remembers.

Thanks!

Gregg Hill

autocomplete uses the words in the contiguous data region's column above
the input cell. You can't change how it operates, but you can turn it
off in Tools/Options/Edit

I had turned it off, then back on again this morning in the hope that it
would clear its memory, but that did not work. Please pardon my ignorance,
but what do you mean by "contiguous data region's column"?

Gregg Hill

Autocomplete doesn't have a memory, so there's nothing to clear.

The displayed choices come from the cells in the column above the input
cell.

"contiguous data region" means the region surrounding the active cell
that isn't separated by a blank row or column.

Hello!

Thank you both. Now I understand it. I thought it was something more like
autocomplete in Internet Explorer where you could delete certain things from
the list.
