JUNGLISTICALLY

i have Win XP installed on my machine and im not happy with it i want to
change BACK to win2000 pro and i have to clean install win 2000 but some one
told me that i have to Set the bios to boot from win 2k cd i dont understand
what he means

does it mean that i leave the installation CD in the CD drive and restart
the machine so the installation program starts before the windows startup?

You have to set the "boot order." i.e. tell your machine where to look
first for boot-up files. Go into your system bios, (interrupt a cold
start), press [Del] or [F1] or whatever your bios brand requires you to
press to get into your system bios.

Heaven forbid, you may have to look closely at your startup DOS screens !
Or open and read on or two of the booklets that came with your machine,
should it be something like a Compaq or an Olivetti etc.

Select the "Boot" tab and study the four? items. Play around with these
until the one that displays your master cd/dvd-rom drive is selected and
positioned at the top of the list. Study the key/legends at the bottom of
the screen for how to navigate around this bios screen, for you most likely
will not have a mouse pointer!

That is what it means. If the system will boot from the cd you can install
and format the drive to delete the win xp files.

If your system will not boot from the 2000 cd than BIOS must be changed to
configure your system to boot from the cd drive. If this is necessary check
the manual which came with your computer for instructions. It may be called
Setup.

Set your Bios to boot from the CDROM as first boot drive. Then put your
2000 disk in your CD rom and follow instructions. If you do not know how to
set your BIOS then it may indicate why you are having problems with XP.
