How to check that the worm is completely gone?

I followed instructions on how to remove the worm from my computer and I
removed the exact file it asked me to remove. How can I make sure that my
computer is completely rid of it? Does the worm stay in one location or does
it spread to other areas of the computer? If after doing a search for it, is
it safe to assume that it is gone if it does not show up in search results
of computer?

Thanks

If you're referring to the MSBLAST.EXE (W32.MSBlast.Worm) then if the file
doesn't show up in Windows\System32, you should be ok. Of course, the only
way to be 100% certain is to format and reinstall.

Surely you don't really mean that the poster 'should' format and
reinstall, do
you? That statement seems a bit leading.

All the major anti-virus vendors have updated for it. AVG is a good free one
that updated for it today. Run a complete scan and it will show if you're
clean.
