Hi,
When I installed Windows I created a user name that I would now like to
change. This is the name that appears under documents and settings as a
folder name, and I am sure in other places as well. How do I do this?
Thanks,
Sue

Log on as Administrator (or as a user with admin privileges) then go
into Control Panel | User Accounts, select the user and option to
change name. IIRC if you delete a name you cannot add it back later.

Renaming the account will not change the folder name in Documents and Settings however.

Hi Sue,

I believe the only way to do that is to create a new user profile and
then move everything from your current profile over to the new one. You
can't just rename the user and have everything change. If you rename
the current user, the D&S folder still uses the old name, as do many
other references.

Changing the profile name as suggested by Malcolm will not change the folder
name under Documents and Settings. The procedure to follow is to create a
new profile with the name you want. Login to it at least once, then copy
the data and settings from the old profile to the new. Work with the new
profile. If things are working ok, then delete the old one. Here are some
links for how to do this.
