How to calculate number of emails sent per month

Hello all,

My question is about a very mundane task, that I feel MS Outlook has the
capacity to do, but I can't seem to figure it out.

For work, I must calculate the number of emails that I send out each month.
This was easier in the pre-2003 Outlook scheme, because I could count how
many emails I saw in one page view then page down and multiply. Now, with the
way that messages are grouped ("Today," "Last Week," "Three Weeks Ago," etc.)
it's a bit harder.

Journal and the Outlook view "Message Timeline" don't quite do what I want -
I still have to manually count. However, as I send out approximately 200-400
emails per month, this becomes tedious. I'd also rather not separate all my
sent mail by monthly folders.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

Many thanks.

Create a new View that is always available that will filter the view/
Options are available for last month.
Create via view | Arrange By | Current view | Define Views
use the advanced tab on Filter and choose the Sent field in all mail fields
to be Last Month.
Alternatively create a new Search folder (assuming this is Outlook 2003)
acting with the same filter as above.
the search folder might be better since it will show the count only those
items. a filtered view shows the full number of items in the folder (I
think).
