Usually when starting XP Proffessional,a list of drives
comes up. Then the XP icon followed by an admin icon,
after clicking Icon it asks for a password. Now no icon
appears, but I get a windows user ID and password
box, which does not accept the password I use, This
problem was told to me over the phone so there are
additional questions I need to ask please post them back,
or give me steps to overide this.
Thanks,
Mike Red

The mode is controlled from the 'user accounts' in the
control panel. There is a check box in there to allow
either 'welcome screen' or classic logon on prompt. It
looks like someone has been doing changes to the user
accounts.

If some one has changed the 'administrator' password, you
might have a problem if you do not have a password recovery
disk.

This was posted in the 'microsoft.public.secuity'
newsgroup, subject "Re: administor pass" on october 5th.
If you have lost access to the password it might help you.
