What is the process for becomming an MVP. I understand that a person needs
to be nominated but is that something that I have to wait for, or do I make
my desire known so that people know that I want to be an MVP?

Nope, you don't need to apply or anything. Basically, you wait to get
noticed :)

Yeah, and if you haven't noticed, it can takes years :) I've been
trolling...err...responding to these newsgroups since 2002 or so...and
haven't had a hint of a nomination :P Maybe if I actually post useful
responses....

I actually paid someone off. If you have some $ to spare, I'll put you
in touch with my guy over at MS.

That's a joke people.

I will email you the money right away!

Is this badge of honour important to you?
So you can be as cool as Jon and Nicholas? Because they are. =)

Really. Don't strive for titles and awards. Let your life come first and
progress in many different ways. Learn to code. Learn to play an instrument.
Be a friend, a lover and a partner. Clean your apartment! Do stuff! And be
happy if someone awards you for it. But don't go looking for credit. It is
often a waste of time.

Me myself and I would be happy if I got an MVP. Not sure that will ever
happen though. I think it's a good thing that Microsoft is really careful on
who they award and that they award seldom.

Hey, everyone can make a plaque.

I hereby award many people in this newsgroup the MVCNA title.
It's the most famous Michaels Very Cool Newsgroup Addicts Award. =)
