I do a lot of screen captures that I paste onto PowerPoint slides. However,
when I complete the paste the graphic comes out larger that the slide itself.
I would like the graphic to automatically size to fit the exact size of the
slide. Is there a way to changes my settings to do that?

If you're doing this a lot, Chris, you should seriously consider getting
SnagIt. You won't believe the flexibility, and you can resize it before you
paste. Matter of fact, you can add arrows and all kinds of stuff before you
paste. You can also grab dropped down menus, etc. You can get it at

As Anne said, SnagIt is a good product that will serve you well. You should
keep in mind that pasting into PowerPoint is not generally the best thing.
You are better off pasting the screen capture into picture editing software,
saving it, and then inserting it into PowerPoint. This is more reliable, more
portable, and makes for smaller file sizes. I'll bet (but don't remember for
sure) that SnagIt has the option of saving to a file, so this would work,
too. Once you have saved your screen captures, this page from the PPT FAQ
might help you; some of the options allow for resizing while you're importing:

Yes, David, it does. I also have around here somewhere a little COM utility
that takes every pic in a PPT presentation and pastes it as a picture, which
USUALLY reduces the size, but I found 2003 doesn't need it nearly as much as
previous versions did. :)

No, but there's a free add-in that'll turn it into a one-click fix.

Visit:

Scroll down to:
Pick Up/Place Exactly

Read the part about setting it to pick up the slide size. Once you do that,
it'll resize newly imported images with one click.
