I was about to open an application when my cursor moved somewhere
and the display brightness dropped.
How can I restore / adjust the display brightness?
(windows xp home)

Thanks in advance for any help,
Mark

Usually - your screen brightness is controlled by the hardware (some menu on
your monitor - much like similar menus on your Television.) However, you
can control the brightness with the most popular video cards through:
Display Properties --> Settings --> Advanced --> Color Correction. The
exact location beyond ' Display Properties --> Settings --> Advanced --> '
may differ depending on your video card.

You must have the latest driver installed for your video card (go to the
manufacturer's web page, download the latest driver for your card and
install it.) Also, if it is not an ATI or NVidia, you may not have this
control.

Have you checked your monitor controls? (On the monitor itself.)
