How to access VPN with Internet Explorer

I have CISCO VPN CLIENT 4.6 running under Windows/XP. The client connects to
the remote server properly and gets authenticated OK and is waiting for work.
I'd like to use Internet Explorer to commincate over the VPN, but I'm getting
Page not Found. I have verified with another user, who is able to use IE to
communicate, that I am using the correct IP and port address
'http://10.0.0.1:5800'.

I think I need to tell the browser to use this new VPN connection rather
than the "normal" LAN connection, but I don't know exactly how to do that.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

TIA,

Phil

From the port, 5800, I'm guessing it's a VNC web-host you're trying to access.

If so, remember this method of access requires Java, which is a separate
download. Either that or you need the 'proper' VNC client, which uses port
5900.

If it's not VNC (a type of remote desktop) you're using then ignore this!

The VPN server (on the remote computer) is CISCO and the client (on the local
computer) is CISCO VPN CLIENT 4.6. In addition to the CISCO CLIENT, the local
computer needs an application to communicate through the CLIENT. I first
tried a product called UltraVNC, VncViewer, Ultr@VNC -- not sure of the
official name. It's available from sourceforge.net. When I was unable to get
VncViewer to work, I learned that Internet Explorer could be used. But I
can't get it to work either.

I have the Java runtime environment, but it's not the latest version. I'll
contact UltraVNC and ask if their product needs a particular version of JRE.
I will repost here with results.

Thanks,

Phil
