How substitute fonts?

Would appreciate help with solving some font-substitution problems...

Am using Word XP (2002) on WinXP PC. Have 100's of old WordPerferct files
from around 1993, and don't use WP anymore.

Problem is, when I open a file ( ...filename.wpd) with Word, some fonts
don't translate properly. In some cases, I can do a better job identifying
a near-match instead of letting Word choose it.

For instance, I want all documents to convert Swiss 721 to Arial.

One problem is... Swiss 721 is OFF the PC, so there's no way to do
find&replace because I can't select it to begin with. Even if I had it on
the PC, I'd prefer not to go thru every file...

Is there a fast way or a batch-way to do this without modifying every font
in every document, and re-saving? How do most people handle the goneaway
font thing?

Thanks,
George

You could create copies of the Arial font files (normal, bold, italic, etc)
and re-name them as Swiss 721. Then you wouldn't have to do anything at all.
