How start/stop a list of processes

I wondered if there is a program already out there that can accept a
list of processes to start/stop? I mean all at once with one command.

I'm often working on a graphics workstation where I need to go on line
semi-frequently but want a way to turn off all virus/spyware/firewall
tools in one go when offline and working in photoshop or other adobe
tools that require huge amounts of resources.

I don't want these other tools using resources I need to process
graphics but also don't want to go online these days with out bucket
loads of spy/virus/firewall ware.

It would also be usefull often when debugging something to be able to
turn that stuff off in on go.

I received no answers on this and wondered if people thought it was in
the wrong newsgroup or something or if there is just not anything like
this available.

I would think that by stopping some processess, as apposed to using any App
task bar exit procedure, might cause problems when you restart them. - I
have no specific knowledge of this, just my thoughts

If you can write Microsoft scripts (aka MSDOS batch scripts), you can use SC.exe
to start / stop various services.

If you're looking at non-service processes, you probably will have to look at
each individual process, and see if it supports scripting. You can't just turn
stuff off - the stuff that you turn off may have to support being controlled by
command line.

That said, PSSuspend from SysInternals (free, and from the guys who busted Sony
for their spyware) might give you a starting point.
