I have several files whose filename is not adequately descriptive, so I've
entered values for the 'Title' and 'Comments' fields in the Summary tab of
those files' Properties. How can I search on those fields? I see no way to
do it in Windows Explorer. Thanks.

Windows Explorer, in the right-hand pane right-click a column header and
choose the columns you wish to see.

Thanks. I'm looking for a way to use Windows Explorer's Search function to
search my drive on one of these fields (i.e. to find for a file where the
Properties|Comments field = "mystring")

Hmm...this points to a document entitled "Unlocking Information in the
Microsoft Office System Using XML". I see samples of programming code that
can be used to insert document properties into a Word XML Document, but
nothing about how to use Windows Explorer to search on Properties|Summary
fields. Maybe I missed something?

Correct there's nothing in there as far as using Windows Explorer to search
based on metadata. You may need to wait for winfs file system for this.

Rick,

It doesn't look like anyone's answered your question really. I'm working with
the same issue; Windows Search does find words entered into the Keywords
field, so if you put keywords there it will find them. The only thing I'm
finding is
that it doesn't find all of them, so I wonder if there's a limit to the
number of
keywords it will find. It seems to only recognize the first four words.

Anyway, I hope I've been able to help you if you haven't already figured
that out. :-)

Steph
