Hello,

I have a question. I have a printed Excel spreadsheet
that I scanned and I need to then get it back into excel.
How do I transfer this scanned image? I tried Kodak
imaging service, but I am not sure what to do. I opened
the file in Excel and of course the file is jibberish. I
can go to Kinkos--but if they can do it, I can, I just
need help as to how. Your help is very appreciated.

Check your software that came with the scanner.

Look for some kind of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software.

Most scanners come with some version of this (and some do a better job than
others).

But that software probably has the ability to create a Text file based on your
scanned image. Some software can create Excel workbooks and some can create
Word documents directly.

But when you're done, give it good eyeball scan. They're not 100% accurate
(well, at least not the version I have).

Shannon,

Scanning the printed worksheet with OCR is what I think you're wanting.
Note that it will give fixed values for formula results -- there's no way
the scanning software could determine what underlying formulas in cells
might be so you could get updated results from formulas when you change
data. You won't get range names and a million other things that might be in
the worksheet.
