The simplest way to omit the footer from the last page is to place the
footer using a conditional field eg

{IF {Page} < {Numpages} "Put your footer content here"}

Graham, I don't understand what you mean. I want to put a short line on the
bottom right side using the footer but do not want it to print on the last
1-2 pages. Thank you for trying to help.

Enter the fields in the footer at the right but put your line where I have
indicated. The field boundaries { } are entered with CTRL +F9. The line will
then only appear on all pages but the last.
