How many Processes?

When I logon to my computer and open task manager, it says there are 40+ processes - is this normal or is this too many

Thats not too many. With just a few startup programs you can easily reach
that.

Hi GinaG,

That seems like a lot. I just checked 5 different Windows 2000 Professional
machines ranging from a light duty Internet Gateway/Mail Server to a heavy
duty Audio/Video processing powerhouse.

The number of running processes were:
19
23
25
26
31

I suggest you download Mike Lin's excellent program "StartupCPL" and use it
to trim your startup programs to a more manageable number.
