how long to install XP2?

Dell Dimension 4500, P4, 512 MB RAM, 15 or so GB free
space.

I downloaded SP2, that took about an hour, using DSL. But
it's been installing for about 5 hours now, no progress
in the progress bar for at least 3 hours. Task Manager
reports that it's running. Is this normal? How long
should it take?

It can take 20 minutes to a few hours. On your machine, likely closer to an
hour.

Did you download SP2 or do the express install?
 
Thanks for answering. I guess I gave up and cancelled it.
It was an "Express Install". I turned on Automatic
Updates so I hope it will go through tonight. Thank you!
