How long before an item is deleted from an archive?

Outlook 2003. In a previous version, things started disappearing from
archives after a few months. It looked like the archive was only keeping
stuff up to about 6 months old and then removing it. Is it possible to stop
this and just let the archive file (pst) grow and grow??

Outlook didn't do that.

That's the way they've always behaved.
