How do you turn off default "ding" on emails and play special soun

My computer crashed, and I had to reinstall Outlook (and everything else). I
used to have it set up so that I have special sounds for certain people, like
my boss, who send me emails, and have it silent for everything else. I want
to set it up like that again, but all I ever hear is the default "ding" for
all incoming emails no matter what I do. I have my Control Panel/Sounds set
to none, and sounds for certain people set in Rules, but all I ever get is
the "ding". What am I doing wrong?

Help help.

Thank you!

Should work. The default ding can cause a problem and maybe it is overriding
your set sounds. Try setting the "ding" to something else, close the options
down then change it back to "nothing". Also check in Advanced Email Options
and disable the option "When new .... Play a sound"

Hi Bill,

Thank you! I already had everything set up right. I did what you said and
switched the sound in my Control Panel from something else and then back to
none, and now it works. Thanks!
