How do you re-install MS Installer in XP Professional?

I'm having trouble installing Norton AV Professional on
my desktop PC.

I receive an "Error 1723 ... missing a required DLL,
unable to complete the installation..."

Looking over the knowledge base articles at Symantec's
site, it appears the MS Windows Installer may be
corrupted, and I need to re-install the package. I
cannot find any related articles in the MS Knowledge base.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks ahead of time for your
help.

Respectfully,
Bill Buckner

They blame it as a microsoft system fault?
Why not open ADM,services, scroll down to installer,
start service,if its corrupt it wont start.XP doesnt
have an installer dwnload,if the system corrupt then
obviosly installer and other areas are to,not just
"installer".You can open cmd prompt,type:Sfc /Scannow
and replace any window files(installer is included).

Andrew,

Thank you for your help.

Regards,
Bill
