How do you prevent access to the C drive in win 2k?

I sometimes hear people talk about locking the C drive.
The computer is a networked pc at home with Win 2k. When I
right-click the C drive or any folder within the C drive.
There is a sharing tab to which it says I can share/not
share this particular directory across the network. That's
not what I want to do. What I want to do is see if I can
prevent someone from making any
additions/deletions/changes to any folder/file on the C
drive or any other local drive that you can create? Is
there a way to do this? I want to do this so I can deny
access to the program files folder any a few others. Any
ideas?

Creat a new share name for C drive E.g "C on My computer" then go to
permissions where you will be able to set permissions for how users will be
able to access this folder over the network.

Yes, you can do this with permissions (provided the file system is
NTFS), but you need to be careful. It's easy to set permissions such
that no one, not even the O/S can access the drive.
