I am trying to create a template which has the same text but miscellaneous
variables the user will need to type in. I have set the field codes where
the text needs to be added but what is the easy way to jump through the
document from field code to field code?

You could use the object browser.
It's that little thing towards the bottom right hand corner of the screen
that looks like a circle with arrows either side.
Click on the circle and choose the browse by field option (it looks like a
letter in curly braces). The arrows either side of the circle turn blue to
indicate that something other than page has been sent.
Just click the down or up arrow to go to the next object of that type.

After you place the fields, you have to protect the document (click the lock
icon on the toolbar or use Tools > Protect Document and select Forms). Then
the Tab key moves to the next field.

See http://www.computorcompanion.com/LPMArticle.asp?ID=22 for help.

F11 will jump from one field to the next, if you've used something like
Macrobutton fields.
