How do you move a command button to the front of a filled in box?

If I make a box first and fill the background with a color and then make a
command button, it will be visible. If I make the command button first and
then make a filled in box and move it into the box it is invisible.
Is there no way to move it to the front?

You need to use the Format Menu for this.
Format + Send to Back
or
Format + Bring To Front
