boot disk, if so where?

No. Read the readme and it will tell you.

You need to read more than this

How do I install Windows from the command prompt?
If your computer will not boot from a CD, you can still use the Windows XP Setup floppy disks to start Setup. During Setup, you will be prompted to insert the Windows XP CD. For more information, see "Create boot disks."

Otherwise, you can use a Windows 98 or Windows Millennium Edition Startup disk to start the computer, and then run Winnt.exe from the i386 folder of your Windows XP CD.

Hi

Have you tried changing the boot sequence in the BIOS, so that the cd drive
is the first bootable? Depending on the age of the PC, it may not be
possible. Can you access the CD from DOS? If so, see if there is a file in
the i386 folder named winnt.exe - try running that. You will need to load
Smartdrive before the installation starts, otherwise it will take ages.

The Windows XP CD is bootable and should launch the install
automatically if you boot the computer with the CD in the drive.

You may have to go into the BIOS setup and change the boot priority
sequence. For some (assinine nonsensical) reason many manufacturers
ship their computers with the BIOS configured so that the hard drive
is the first boot priority thereby making it impossible to boot the
computer from a CD or diskette without removing the hard drive or
wiping out its content.

Boot priority settings (assuming your computer has both a CDROM and a
3.5 diskette):

A:, CDROM, C:
or
CDROM, A:, C:

Good luck

The boot diskette is a thing of the past, as all legitimate WinXP
installation CDs are already bootable.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
